I found Shompole's poetry collection by accident. I happen to be friends with her on Goodreads and one day I decided to look for a book list of something. I think I was looking for a science fiction novel I couldn't remember the name of, and then somehow in listopia, that's what it's called, I found her book and realized that she was an author.

Of course, I drooled all over the book cover, a very fine one that fits the nature of the poetry. I mean nature as in not only the personality of the words but also the fury of our Earth's elements.

she uses the micro poetry form and free verse to evoke the gentle touch and fury of nature to describe day-to-day feelings of merely existing on the universe, loving, and the observances of others.

The collection is like a concept album where some poems will repeat or continue manifesting a continuing image after a few more scenes of lurking in between several worlds. There is definitely a lot of fantasy influence in this collection, this collection had a very atmospheric high fantasy feel to it. With volcanoes erupting with passion and the darkness of our depressions swallowing people whole, Heaven Water Blood is surreal and atmospheric, but also warm and welcoming. I will admit that I don't have much to say about this collection, but I will say it does get repetitive after a while, but I love her poetry so far. it squeezes slice of life stories into the most delicate and sparsest forms of poetry. That is a challenge in of itself, trying to compose sentences that embody an image and an emotion without speaking too much, without weighing down the balance of poetic mysticism and hard reality. I'm interested in reading her take on prose since her other collection includes a novella.

P.S. I'm noticing that on Goodreads I will rate something as let's say 4 stars and then on the blog it will be a 3.5. So I never realized this till now, but then I developed a good theory. It's called The Needle Drop rate system. Look him up if you don't know who that is and what I'm talking about. So this is a strong 4, but I didn't feel like it would be an exact five. Hence the 4.5.

Outstandingly moving collection. The beautiful honesty in the authors expression is, in my humble thoughts, the mark of a fine writer with a large soul.
